The activity started with a workshop at Pwani University in Kilifi (Kenya), one of our partner universities of the BIOCULT project and took place on 21.02 and 22.02.2022. On the first day of the workshop, an intensive get-to-know session took place with the nearly 50 participants and all participating institutions. Keynote lectures by Dr. Joyce Jefwa, Dr. Maria Fugomeli (National Museums of Kenya) and Dr. Rose Kigathi (Pwani University) presented the unique ecology of the East African coastal forests, and the great cultural and ecological relevance of Kayas. On the second day of the workshop, the topics and methods of the individual working packages were presented by corresponding supervisors.
The workshop programme can be seen here and a compilation of the presentations can be found here.
