Biography

Dr. Maghenda has over 30 years’ experience in the field of environmental science with specialized skills in resource management, biodiversity conservation, geographic information systems, education, community development, agriculture and climate change. She is passionate about climate change, economic development and environmental restoration. Dr. Maghenda has had vast experience working with both local and international institutions. These include curriculum development, program management and teaching at Moi University, Maasai Mara University, St. Lawrence University, Long Island University (Friends World Programme), School for Field Studies (SFS) Boston University Kenya program and Kampala International University, Dar salaam. As the Dean School of Agriculture, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SAEES) at Taita Taveta University, she has seen the school grow over the last 5years into a scholarly and research oriented school through partnerships with international institutions. Some of the projects include TAITAGIS with University of Helsinki, AgroPV project with HTW Dresden and TAITARICE. Dr. Maghenda is published in the areas of climate change, environment, biodiversity, wildlife management, peace studies, GIS and agriculture.
